Jackie McConnell of Collierville, Tennessee is a sadist

When animals are bred and "trained" for profit humans will always end up abusing them in lesser or higher degree.  This is exposing this particular abuse. Hopefully more will follow. Thank you ABC for exposing this. More please!

I urge people not to patronize any events that is sponsored and for profit. Including aquariums, circuses, Rodeos and anything that has making money using animals as a goal.

It's all barbaric and the dark side of the abuses are hidden. Also do not buy pets from breeder there are millions of animals in shelters. 8 millions euthanized every year. Stop animal abuse by how and where you spend your money.

Putting a face on kindness People that save animals sacrificing a lot in the name of compassion

We're going to have a series we'll call "Putting a Face on Kindness"!

All over this country and all over the world people are sacrificing life and limb, money, comfort and their health in order to help suffering, neglected and hurt animals, of a different kind. These are four legged, winged, fur or feathered, scaled of finned, pawed or huffed, they come in all sizes shapes and species. They all have something very basic in common with us the Human species. Something we all can relate to.

They all feel pain, they can suffer as we do, they can starve, be thirsty, be lonely, suffocating, agonize and in short they all are LIVING Beings worthy of their lives.

So these exceptional humans, take on the responsibility that many of us don't or won't for many reasons. Some of us can't, not to extend that these people do. But we all CAN do something.

If we have wealth we CAN give money. This money helps to buy food, keep clean shelters, pay for veterinary care, and many incidentals, rent, communications any cost associated with running an operation like a sanctuary.

Some of us don't have much money but maybe we have time, we can volunteer, if we have computer skills we can help to promote those organizations, that do most good. If we know a local sanctuary we can volunteer with labor. We can recruit other volunteers.
If we don't think we can do any of these we can still do something.

We can get our pets spayed and neutered, get pets from shelters instead of breeders.
Not purchase fur and leather products that create a market that ends up harming animal.

In our way of life, if not immediately, but maybe slowly but surely go in to a plant based lifestyle and chose our food, clothing and toiletries and cosmetics, based on the "compassion FOR ALL principle."
See what the "Leaping Bunny"  program is.

There are many things we can do and believe me when we do them, "They make us feel very good!" There is no better feeling in the world then saving a life, human or animal, saving it, directly or indirectly, a life is a life and saving one and seeing the results, it hits us very deep, where the happy tears live.

I know from personal experience.

With that being said I want you to meet

Terry DeGaw
the heart and soul of "Serenity Springs Animal Sanctuary"

In this first "Putting a Face on Kindness" I wanted to feature her, because this is a face of kindness.

From what I read and personally know about taking care of many animals on a daily bases, her schedule is hard, the work is hard and she is not the youngest, but she toils away every day for these animals. Self sacrifice has a face.
I hope this feature will help to raise some funds for her sanctuary.

Mission Statement

Serenity Springs Sanctuary is a non-profit, "no-kill", 501(c)(3) tax-exempt facility dedicated to the rescue of potbellied pigs and other porcine. The Sanctuary's efforts are not confined to pigs. Other species including horses, goats, dogs, cats, fowl and any others needing sanctuary are welcome, as long as there are room and finances to assure the very best of care. No animal will be euthanized unless there is a terminal illness or mortal injury. All reasonable measures will be taken prior to making this decision. Breeding is not condoned or practiced by the sanctuary. All males are neutered and females are spayed if appropriate.
I do not "own" the animals.  I am put here to be their "guardian"

I say please support her efforts and help to make the lives of all these wonderful beings easier by donating what you can today~

San Antonio Texas Justice for George - Please help find these killers - Fundraising Auction

Justice for George!

A beloved friendly Duck was attacked in her sleep and tortured and murdered by two punks in San Antonio Texas. Please help to find them. There is a Facebook page with all the info and updates on this case:

The story about George is not just a story about one Duck. It's the story about the decay of humanity. A story about the apathy and slow creeping fungus called cruelty to helpless individuals, from animals, to children to the elderly the most vulnerable individuals of our society. We can't accept this decay of humanity. If we want to protect humanity, we must protect the most vulnerable. Because when we become so desensitized that we just chalk this off as a prank, we are lowering the bar and eventually there will be no bar left.

George was a friendly well loved Duck in the River Walk district of San Antonio Texas. George was a she. She loved everyone. She nipped on people legs to ask for food. People fed her Tortilla chips. She spent her days by the river walk and slept at a spot on the walk. Until the night of May 29th, when two men crept up on the sleeping George, stomped her, strangled her and just for fun murdered her. Then they calmly walked by the Restaurant where they appeared briefly on the camera, holding George by her neck and further down they threw her in the river.

You may say “But it’s just a duck, why the fuzz!” The fuzz is that this is symbolic of something deeper that is happening in our society. A steady decline in compassion. A steady increase of dismissal of animal cruelty and slow to no progress in prosecuting acts like this. This Being felt the horror, the pain attacked in her sleep, and she suffered just like we do. She trusted people and that is what she got in return.

It’s no secret that people that do this have probably done this before, to other animals, or to other children, or adults, they are probably bullies. They usually progress into acts against their own species. They may, if not found, one day work as a little league coach, or in a hospital as a nurse, become a police officer, or live next to you as a “nice” neighbor  that everyone will be so shocked about when they learn he is a serial killer or child molester.

Take a good look at these image and contact San Antonio Police if you know the whereabouts of these individuals. There is an award of $600 dollars for anyone that gives evidence that will lead to the arrest and conviction of these individuals.
The lead agency investigating this is San Antonio Animal are Services, you may also call them.

Help end the practice of raping animals and animal brothels

This is more pervasive then I ever thought possible.
I am shocked to learn that there are countries where animal rape is legal. OMG Really.

Where those that rape animal argue it's a RIGHT!

it is high time to extend RIGHTS to animal.
They are living feeling beings just like us and the notion that we can just do with them as we please because under the law right now they are considered just Property is abhorrent.

We are not civilised until we make the decision to give rights to animal.
Simple rights of not being hurt, raped, beaten used and tormented are rights that belong to all living beings regardless of their species.
We have no right to say otherwise, no  more than if an alien species came on to earth they had a right to do with us as they pleased. We would not like that.

Every one has a responsibility to do something to end animal abuse.
if you don't do something you're an enabler.

Learn about it and get involved in stopping it.
It's about what kind of world you want your children to inherit and doing the rigth thing now.

Smithfield is one of the most disgusting corporations next to Monsanto.

Smithfield is a company with a black, rotten, putrid heart.
They neither care about the animals nor about the people .
They ONLY CARE About PROFIT.

UFCW & Paula Dean

In the Spring of 2007, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) attempted to get celebrity chef Paula Deen to sever her ties with Smithfield. Ms. Dean had been a paid spokesperson since the Fall of 2006 and is the first personality to become entangled in a union dispute. During a sold out book tour in New York City in April, approximately two dozen people supporting the unionization of the huge Tar Heel, NC plant, held a prayer vigil out side of the Museum of Natural History. As she responded to audience questions, a union member tried to speak and deliver a letter. Leila McDowell and former Smithfield employee Lenore Bailey were ushered out. According to a news release from Ms. Dean:
“Now, I’m not an expert on the union situation but here’s what I do know: I know the folks at Smithfield care about their employees and work hard to support the communities where they live, work and raise their families.”
After the incident, the North Carolina Council of Churches sent a letter to Ms. Dean describing conditions at the plant. The letter included a report based on data from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). According to the data, worker injuries were up 200 percent since 2003. The company claimed its injury rate was no different from the industry average. The union vowed to continue demonstrating at Ms. Dean's book tours, on a larger scale.[5" from http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Smithfield_Foods

From the http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/11/28/415371/-Hey-Y-all-Boycott-Paula-Deen-and-Smithfield-Ham
"Although I only caught the last few minutes, what I heard was Diane questioning Paula about conditions at the Smithfield Packing factory in Tarheel, North Carolina.  Paula Deen is a paid spokesperson for Smithfield, promoting their product at every appearance she makes.

They kill more than 30 million pigs a year.
http://www.peta.org/features/smithfield.aspx
At Smithfield, female pigs endure constant cycles of forced pregnancy. Newborn piglets are taken from their mothers after just a few weeks. They have their teeth clipped in half, their tails cut off, and their ears mutilated, and the males have their testicles ripped out—all without any painkillers.

PROFIT trumps, goodness, kindness, humanness, ethics all of those get kicked and stabbed and beaten just like the animals, Smithfield simply see as nothing but a commodity and to increase profits Smithfield now sells to a Chinese Prepossessing Factory

I'm already Vegan "THANK You Grandma for giving me a good heart and common sense and teaching me to follow that good heart". So I don't eat PORK. If nobody ate pork, there wouldn't be any cruelty to pigs and BTW many people would live healthier and better lives without eating meat and all that fat that comes with it.

But it seems, it takes most people a long long time to come around and get on a plant based lifestyle.
Common now join... go Vegan! YOU CAN DO IT!

Environmental issues

Smithfield churns out a sea of waste that has destroyed rivers, killed millions of fish and generated one of the largest fines in the history of the EPA. The company slaughters approximately 27 million hogs per year, each hog with a slaugter weight 50% heavier than a person. The logistical challenge of processing that many pigs per year is roughly to butchering and boxing the entire human populations of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, San Jose, Detroit, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, San Francisco, Columbus, Austin, Memphis, Baltimore, Fort Worth, Charlotte, El Paso, Milwaukee, Seattle, Boston, Denver, Louisville, Washington, D.C., Nashville, Las Vegas, Portland, Oklahoma City and Tucson.
Smithfield actually faces a more difficult challenge even than transforming the populations of America's 32 largest cities into packages of meat. Hogs produce three times more excrement than human beings. The 500,000 pigs in a single Smithfield subsidiary in Utah generate more fecal matter every year than the 1.5 million inhabitants of Manhattan. Best estimates put Smithfield's total waste discharge at 26 million tons a year (enough to fill four Yankee Stadiums.) Even when divided among the many small units that surround the company's slaughterhouses, this is not a containable amount. [20]

H1N1 Virus: The First Legal Action Targets a Pig Farm

Read more: http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1898977,00.html#ixzz2Uiu7uKqP
Trunnell's petition seeks to investigate claims that the H1N1 outbreak began in Smithfield's massive pork operation in La Gloria and that the virus may have been caused in part by the conditions under which the farm operates, which the petition terms "horrifically unsanitary."

The famous pig shit lakes that bred the Swine Flu. The lakes are full of pig blood, pig shit, rotting dead pigs and other charming and delectable items. Note broken pipe. The smell from these lakes is so horrible that workers are sometimes overcome, pass out, and fall into the pig shit lake. Those who dive in to save them almost always die too. It sometimes takes weeks to fish the bodies out. SOURCE

Comments from Mark
" Smithfield is the largest hog producer in the world and controls almost 30% of the U.S. pork market. Smithfield’s style of industrial pork production is now a major source of air pollution and probably the largest source of water pollution in America. Smithfield and its cronies have driven tens of thousands of family farmers off the land, shattered rural communities, poisoned thousands of miles of American waterways, killed billions of fish, put thousands of fishermen out of work, sickened rural residents and treated hundreds of millions of farm animals with unspeakable and unnecessary cruelty." Monsanto and the Bee Extermination Connection. Who killed the Honey Bee?

Monsanto, the massive biotechnology company being blamed for contributing to the dwindling bee population, has bought up one of the leading bee collapse research organizations. Recently banned from Poland  with one of the primary reasons being that the company’s genetically modified corn may be devastating the dying bee population, it is evident that Monsanto is under serious fire for their role in the downfall of the vital insects. It is therefore quite apparent why Monsanto bought one of the largest bee research firms on the planet.

List of crops pollinated by Bees
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_crop_plants_pollinated_by_bees

(NaturalNews) It`s a troubling and little-known fact. Today`s beekeepers use herbicides, fungicides and insecticides in and around beehives. They say they have no choice. Honeybees increasingly suffer from disease and parasites, forcing their keepers to fight back with powerful chemicals. But modern beekeeping practices put severe stress on honeybees, possibly causing this weakened resistance to diseases and parasites in the first place. These practices include unnatural feed, migratory beekeeping, artificial insemination, and chemical treatments. In part one of this series we`ll look at the first two practices.

Unnatural Feed.
The only natural foods for honeybees come from the nectars and pollens they collect. These foods contain vital nutrients that optimize the health of these tiny insects. Bees carefully vary their own diets, flying farther to find different blooms if large amounts of nectar have been gathered from one type of plant. But today`s beekeepers commonly feed their honeybees artificial syrups and patties made out of high fructose corn syrup (HFC). Unlike the range of fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals found in pollen and nectar HFC is devoid of any real nutrition.

Botanical Art by Ginette Callaway

Ginette says: "Plants and especially medicinal plants have been an interest of mine ever since I worded in the Pharmaceutical industry. I learned that just about all medicines are derived from the chemical/molecular structure of plants. From poppies to Acorns, Dandelions and Yarrow the plant world is a well of medicines. A fascinating field to study.

I paint a new plant and always read about that plants all I can do understand it's properties. Over the decades I have learned a lot and use medicinal plants regularly myslef. I don't take any pharmaceuticals anymore today which is also dues to my vegan lifestyle. Between the plants I eat and the medicinal plants I utilize, internally and externally, I haven't seen a doctor in years. Not even for a flu!"

I buy my herbs at Botanical Spirit Shop Improving your physical, mental and spiritual state of "being" through the use of herbal seeds, bark, roots, flowers and foliage from plants that have been used medicinally for centuries; safely, naturally and effectively! Tennessee Ag-Gag Bill vetoed by State Governor Haslam. Thank you Governor!

I am so elated and want to wholeheartedly thank the Tennessee State Governor Bill Haslam.
I will go to this web site and send him an message of gratitude.

He released this statement

Haslam Releases Statement on HB 1191/SB 1248

Monday, May 13, 2013 | 10:41 am NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam released the following statement regarding HB 1191/SB 1248:
“Agriculture is the No. 1 industry in Tennessee.  Farmers play a vital role in our state’s economy, heritage and history.  I understand their concerns about large scale attacks on their livelihoods.  I also appreciate that the types of recordings this bill targets may be obtained at times under false pretenses, which I think is wrong,” Haslam said.
“Our office has spent a great deal of time considering this legislation.  We’ve had a lot of input from people on all sides of the issue.  After careful consideration, I am going to veto the legislation.  Some vetoes are made solely on policy grounds.  Other vetoes may be the result of wanting the General Assembly to reconsider the legislation for a number of reasons.  My veto here is more along the lines of the latter.  I have a number of concerns.
“First, the Attorney General says the law is constitutionally suspect.  Second, it appears to repeal parts of Tennessee’s Shield Law without saying so.  If that is the case, it should say so.  Third, there are concerns from some district attorneys that the act actually makes it more difficult to prosecute animal cruelty cases, which would be an unintended consequence.
“For these reasons, I am vetoing HB1191/SB1248, and I respectfully encourage the General Assembly to reconsider this issue.” https://news.tn.gov/node/10688

Saturday Night Vegan Deep Dish Pizza

Made some deep dish vegan pizza. We used a Pizza baker because we don't have an oven. We have a Maytag Stove that is only about 5 years old and a year ago the oven went bad. It's not the first time we had problems with Maytag product, so I'll never buy Maytag again. In the meantime till I can afford a new stove I use the Pizza baker, I even bake some great flat bread in it, fresh almost every day. Takes about 60 minutes. Here are my photos of this delicious Pizza.

I made my own vegan mozzarella cheese and used it in the sauce. I use fermented wheat berries as stater for my cheese. I make it from wheat berries, it's called rejuvilac. There are videos all over youtube on how to make it.

My rejuvilac turned out great. It's important to use clean sterile container to make it. I clean them with alcohol. I took tomato sauce and about 1/2 cup of the cheese and put it in the chopper chop chop chop about three times and that was poured on to the dough and then the toppings went on. Vegan breakfast sausage I had left over from a few days ago. Vegan Pepperoni all chopped up, peppers, tomatoes, onions, Italian herbs, salt and pepper, and a bit of olive oil that's about it.

Why I denounced my former Christian believes.

I was born and raised a Christian, not particularly engaged, but still prescribed to many of the Christian Doctrines out of habit, superstition and because of peer pressures.

As I got older and started to become more independent and intelligent and worried less about the Christian society or God's judgement and as I started to learn and observe, human behaviour, how it correlates to Christian doctrine and practices, it become clearer and clearer to me that Christianity is an unfortunate accident at best at worst conspiracy of history holding up progress and justice at the detriment of those that don't even prescribe to this believe system.

The teachings and practices of Christianity is in total conflict with my love for nature and all that is part of it. My believe in non violence is in stark contrast with Christian societies love of war and hate for many animal species and total disregard for the environment. It seems from my observations, Christian doctrine demands that followers loath the environment and other animals.

In Christianity nature is regularly diminished, destroyed, maligned almost as if it not part of the world and as if only mankind is of importance and totally unattached to everything else that makes up life.
This is of course in total contrast to what we know.

It seems the longer Christianity and it's political influence lives  the shorter the life of nature and other cultures. It is very sad and troubling to me.

That is why, after almost a lifetime, I denounced Christianity and now prefer to live a life that respects all other live and our earth, other cultures without a pretentious supremacy complex that Christianity demands. I rather engage in spiral practice and soul searching and learning.

Generally I describe myself as a naturalist in the vain of John Muir sharing a certain cosmic consciousness! To me the natural world is my church!

If you would like to read a living example of Christian thinking  today, here is a web site that is a great example of what some may say is extreme, but this is actually rather common. They are simply honest about it. This is what the Christian Church says about Naturalists.
http://www.seekfind.net/NaturalismACultBasedOnABoldfacedLie.html

Here is an example of a Christian man awakening. Father Frank is going to have a hard time coming out in the Christian church as someone who thinks like this.  I wish him success and strength. He'll need it. Good man awakening.

3D printing... the future looks Interesting

As an artist I wonder how this can be used to create art... if affordable units are made available.

A 3D model of a complex anaplastology case, created in collaboration with the anaplastologist Jan De Cubber, is seen at the Belgian company Materialise, the biggest 3D printer in Europe, in Leuven January 24, 2013. 3D printing has already changed the game for manufacturing specialized products such as medical devices but the real revolution will come when designers start to rethink the shapes of objects. Materialise, a pioneer in the process, has a display of a foldable chair printed from one continuous piece of plastic - and made with the hinges already joined together, for example.

Doing Good ...How and Where... get a start

I know when we do something good and selfless, to help or save a Human or Animal in need it does more good for us. In my experience we get back more then we put in. Doing good should become an addiction. There are tons of ways to do good. Pick one. Mine is helping animal and bringing awareness to help all animals. One ways you can immediate get a jolt of "feel good" and light feeling in your heart, is by taken the step to becomes Vegan. Immediately you realize your action are now contributing to GOOD every day. You shop more aware, when you eat you feel joy, other than merely please of the palette, you feel joy of the heart as well. You start to learn so much and your actions on a daily bases effect so many animals and humans alike. Vegansism is about going good through actions. Also please spay and neuter your pets. Too many pups to many kittens add to the suffering. THANK YOU!

Selective prosecution .... this is so wrong!

I am a Vegan, as such I do not consume any animal related products.
I wish everyone were vegan. I want to persuade people and convince people that going Vegan is the best way for a person’s health as well as for reasons of consciousness. Animal cruelty to farm animals is really horrible, when you seen behind the curtain of factory farms you can never go back. As a vegan, yes I would like to see people change away from animal products.

Here is what is upsetting to me about this story. Our federal government is going after Raw milk producers and selectively and unjustly persecute and shut them down.
Everyone involved from the Sheriffs to the Police are aiding an evil government.

It does not take much to figure out that this has nothing to do with protecting the public from dangerous milk and cheese product. This is all about the Dairy industry using it's political powers (bought for with their millions) to shut down an emerging competition. There are more and more people waking up to the DANGERS of the Milk and Dairy products. Cows shut up with drugs, milk contaminated with drugs and hormones and those are not removed by pasteurization,. With each sip of standard pasteurized milk out children re being poisoned.

Of course I know that any milk is dangerous because milk contains Casein which has been linked to different types of cancer, not to mention allergic reactions and stomach problems. Humans are not meant to drink milk other than their own species milk i.e. MOTHERSMILK or eat cheese. But that is a whole other story.

I don’t think people will ever be forced to do anything or give up anything unless they are persuaded to do so.
I try my best to educate my friends and associates to the dangers of Milk or better DAIRY in general. However if they drink milk I would probably tell them that raw from a small local farm milk is saver then the government approved mass production factory farm milk. I have educated myself about this and I am speaking from what I have learned. People have been drinking raw milk and eating raw cheese for centuries and are still doing so in many countries but only in America is our evil government persecuting these farmers. It’s all political it’s the huge Dairy industry that is behind this.

They should be brought up on charges of fraud, because they have been selling defective product to millions of Americans for the longest time now and all GOVERNMENT APPROVED!
The action by this government to persecute these small indie producers goes against all justice and really disgust me.

Lev Tolstoy and the Freedom to Choose One’s Own Path

Journal for Critical Animal Studies, Volume V, Issue 2, 2007
Lev Tolstoy and the Freedom to Choose One’s Own Path
Andrea Rossing McDowell, PhD
It is difficult to be sat on all day, every day, by some other creature, without
forming an opinion about them. On the other hand, it is perfectly possible to sit all
day every day, on top of another creature and not have the slightest thought about
them whatsoever.
-- Douglas Adams, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (1988)

Committed to the idea that the lives of humans and animals are inextricably linked, Lev
Nikolayevich Tolstoy (1828–1910) promoted—through literature, essays, and letters—the
animal world as another venue in which to practice concern and kindness, consequently leading
to more peaceful, consonant human relations. The focal point of Tolstoy’s philosophy of humananimal
relations, however, is susceptible to distortion or misinterpretation. On the one hand,
some scholars minimize or dismiss as extremist Tolstoy’s renunciation of hunting, his vegetarian
lifestyle, and his rejection of animal subjects for medical or scientific purposes.

...Tolstoy includes animals among those downtrodden, dominated beings
whose own needs and protection are discounted for the “benefits” of those in control. Thus
mindful of the subjugated Other, Tolstoy realizes he must “turn his back completely on the
system of values accepted by the comfortable elite to which he belonged” (Walicki 326). Only in
this way can a person freely live an ethical and humane existence: by disavowing society’s
system of values—including the devaluation of non-human animals. These ultimate realizations
and convictions at which Tolstoy arrived provides a valuable framework for recontextualizing
earlier literary works, in that the animal realm aided his efforts to discern what it means to be
human and humane, and to live by deed rather than words....

Dogs rescued from Everglades

This is what a lack of empathy does. We live in a cruel, cruel world...

and on the other side of the coin there are great people that go out and rescue. We need more of them, better yet we need to learn to be kind and compassionate and not abandon our animals, or elderly or children. We need a raise in consciousness!
